These devices are wired barcode scanners that are manually held oer a barcode or, in some cases, sit in a stand that enables you to present a barcoded item to the scanner and have the barcode read without having to touch the barcode scanner at all.

Wired Omni-directional Barcode Scanners

These devices are usually placed on a desk, counter or bench top (or they can be mounted on top of the bench top, or mounted in the actual bench top). Instead of using a single scan line, they project multiple lines at multiple angles which means that the operator does not need to ensure that the barcode is orientated in any particular direction. Omni-directional scanners are often used at supermarket and retail check-outs. These scanners can read linear barcodes such as EAN, Code128, Code39, etc.
